Tikkun Kids

Tikkun Olam means "fixing the world." It's like when you see a puzzle with pieces scattered everywhere, and you know that putting those pieces together will make a beautiful picture. All of creation is like that puzzle, and we're here to help put those pieces in the right place.

You might wonder, "How can I, just a kid, help fix the world?" It's easier than you think! Every good thing you do, every kind word you say, is like finding a piece of that puzzle and putting it in the right spot again.

When G-d created the world, He gave us some puzzle pieces so we could finish it. But sometimes, we fight and do bad things, and it's like we smash the puzzle with our fists. When we do bad things, we break off more puzzle pieces. Everyone around us becomes sad because they are working so hard to see the finished puzzle. All the pieces we broke off are still there, but we have to take responsibility and start putting the pieces back. Sometimes the pieces are hard to find, and they flew off under the table, under the couch, or on someone's seat just before they sat down!

How do we find all these lost pieces? Some of them are in really dark places and they are scary. G-d gave us a special tool called "The Torah". It helps us know where to look and acts like a flashlight, shining a light into the dark places. It allows us to find the hidden pieces and put them back into their proper spot. When the puzzle piece goes into it's proper place, it lights up super bright! The more puzzle pieces we put back, the brighter the puzzle is.

This isn't just a job for grown-ups; repairing creation is a job for the whole family! Even when we think something is just a regular part of our day, like eating dinner or going to school, we can turn it into a mitzvot by following the Torah and putting the lost puzzle piece back into the puzzle.

Remember, every one of us has the power to make the world a little bit better, a little bit brighter. Every kind word, every blessing, and every good deed, is a step towards finishing the puzzle. Let's think like puzzle masters and find those pieces, light them up, and help fix the world, one piece at a time. In every little thing you do, there's a chance to complete it! And when we complete the puzzle, there is a really really special prize for everyone that helped.
