This is an absolute favorite amongst family and friends alike! I have no idea how true this recipe is to the cuisine of syria, but this is the name it was introduced to me with.
Time: ~ 20min | Feeds: 8-10 people | Type: Beef |
Instructions
1. Heat oil in pan, add onions and cook to translucent. Preheat oven to 425ºF.
2. Add meat and break it up to small crumbles. Cook through until liquid evaporates. Tip: leave some of the liquid if you plan to freeze and reheat
3. Mix in the seasonings Tip: If freezing, spread in thin layer on parchment lined baking sheet. Freeze for a couple of hours until solid, then break it up and put in a freezer bag until ready to use. Thaw in fridge overnight, warm before serving.
4. Before serving, cut pita into triangles and arrange on baking sheet. Brush with olive oil, and sprinkle with salt and garlic powder. Bake at 425ºF for about 7 minutes. Keep an eye on it, make it as crispy or soft as you like. They will crisp up and brown quickly, so dont forget about them!
5. Put a handful of chips onto plate, top with meat, salad, and sauces. Prepare to serve seconds and even thirds!
